Bone Dungeons
Bone Dungeons is a tactical roguelike: dungeon crawling in the spirit of Pixel Dungeon, plus squad battles on a hex grid inspired by Battle Brothers.
You lead a party of four through the dungeon one tile at a time. Enemy patrols roam the corridors, traps hide in the floor, and chests may be locked. When you meet a group of enemies, the fight moves to a hex battlefield shaped like the place where you met: a narrow corridor, a room full of pillars, or a doorway.
Dice are everything
Each turn a hero gets a pool of d6 dice. Every hex you step and every attack you make costs dice; on a roll, every 5 or 6 is a success. Spend your dice on a strong blow, keep some in reserve for next turn, raise a shield, or ready an attack against the first enemy who comes close. Armor makes you tougher but costs dice from your pool, so every hero is built around that trade-off.
Features
- Hex battles with initiative, attacks of opportunity, shield stances, shoves into walls and traps, readied attacks and a focus resource for special techniques.
- A radial menu that shows each technique's cost, hit chance and damage before you commit.
- Heroes with character: random classes, backgrounds and traits (good and bad), weapon mastery, levels, skills.
- Black altars and Bone Gifts: pick one of three dark bargains on each floor. Each gives real power at a real price, and all of them fade when you return to the village.
- Relics: unique and named weapons whose properties grow as you use them.
- Status effects: bleeding, curses, blessings, sickness and armor corrosion.
- The dungeon fights back: traps you can find and disarm, lockpicking, idols, levers, seekers' corpses, prisoners who join your party, ambushes from behind.
- A village between expeditions: hire recruits, build a tavern, barracks, infirmary, forge and more, and keep your stash. Heroes who fall stay dead.
What's in the demo
- The Threshold, a 5-floor training dungeon that ends with a lair guardian.
- The village, recruits, buildings and stash.
- All core mechanics: battles, Bone Gifts, relics, traps and events.
- Other dungeons (Catacombs, Goblin Mines, The Abyss) are visible in the village but locked until the full game.
Controls
- Mouse: click a tile to walk, click a hero to select, click an enemy to open the radial menu of techniques.
- WASD / arrows: step through the dungeon.
- Space: end turn.
- I: inventory. L: hero development.
- Esc: close a window.

This is an early prototype by a solo developer. Feedback is very welcome, especially on balance and clarity.
